Dr Joe Vattakatuchery completed his Psychiatry Training in the United Kingdom and worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in England for 9 years before moving to Bendigo. He has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Bendigo Health since 2018. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He specialises in adult psychiatry and has completed MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry with distinction at the University of Birmingham (UK) and has since developed an interest in treating Mental Disorders in people with Neurological Conditions such as mild-moderate brain injury, epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease.
He has an interest in teaching and academic activities. He has held the posts of Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Liverpool (UK) and Academic Secretary of the North West Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), along with several peer reviewed publications.
Dr Vattakatuchery is accepting referrals for adults (18 years and over) with stress related disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, OCD, and PTSD.
He believes in a holistic approach and encompasses biological, psychological, social and cultural aspects in diagnosing and treating mental disorders. A referral is needed to access this service.
Fees and billing
Initial appointment – $200 gap fee (Medicare items 291 or 296)
Review appointment (30 minutes or less) – $100 gap fee (Medicare items 300–304)
ADHD assessment (up to 90 minutes) – $350 gap fee (Medicare items 306/308)
Missed appointment fees
30-minute appointment: $50
60-minute appointment: $100
ADHD assessment (90 minutes): $150
